Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read. The complete rules for the blog hop are here: Welcome to the Feature and Follow.
This week's question is:
Q: If you could “unread” a book, which one would it be? Is it because you want to start over and experience it again for the first time? Or because it was THAT bad?
The book I would like to unread because I loved it so much is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. There's nothing like reading a book for the first time and not knowing how it's going to end or who the main characters might end up with. The book I would like to unread because I just loathed it is The Passage by Justin Cronin. Look, if one has to read a rip-off of Stephen King's The Stand, then at least read a good rip-off. Better yet, just read The Stand.

Thanks for stopping by A Midsummer Night's Read! Following back, btw :-)
ReplyDeletePride and Prejudice would be a great book to "unread" because it was awesome! I couldn't think of one...that's why I put a BAD one.
I agree Pride and Prejudice is a great book :)
ReplyDeletePride and Prejudice is a great book!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! I am now following back via GFC.
I have yet to read Pride and Prejudice, though I did read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. lol =)
ReplyDeleteI actually loved the Passage, but I love vampires and the end of the world, so it combined those for me. It was A LOT like The Stand, though.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who keeps bad books on my shelf because I don't want others to come across it! Thanks for stopping by and following. I'm following you back!
I read Pride and Prejudice too, and I completely agree with you about reading a book without knowing what will happen! I had a copy of The Passage, but I gave it away. Lucky me ;)
ReplyDeleteNew GFC follower.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I wasn't a huge fan of The Passage either. It was rather dull.

Pride and Prejudice is pretty wonderful :) Happy Feature Friday @ The Brunette Librarian??
ReplyDeleteWhen I read Pride and Prejudice I had already been spoiled. I would love to be able to read it without knowing what was going to happen.

I love re-reading Pride & Prejudice. Such a good book! Have you watched The Lizzie Bennet Diaries on youtube? Such a good adaption.
ReplyDeleteMy follow friday. Please visit!
I haven't seen any movie or adaptation of P&P. I have young kids, so I rarely get to see anything that's not Spongebob.
DeleteI loved The Stand so I might just pass on The Passage then.

If you feel like you have to read it- and I can understand that because I've read a lot of lousy overhyped books- then get it from the library. At least then the author's not getting any money and you can take that money and spend it on a more deserving author. It's just that Cronin has the worst instincts possible for an author.
Delete*********Potential spoiler************
He takes the two best characters in The Passage and then barely 20% in or so, that's that. He skips forward and they are bye-bye. Not going to say how they went bye-bye; whether they got killed off, he picked up the story arc in another time or place, etc. But, the story just died for me then. Then, it started getting even worse. Awful, then more awful.
I've tagged you for a Liebster Award. :) http://wp.me/p2bS4K-95
ReplyDeleteCheers--
Can you believe I have never read a Jane Austen book? It's absolutely ridiculous and I hope to rectify it soon. Thanks for stopping by and following - followed you back. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
P&P is the reason I started book blogging Jane Austen is one of my fav's. Thanks for stopping by my blog Book Review Club Following back GFC:)

I haven't read all of Austen's books. I really want to, but I feel like I have to ration them because once you read them all- there are no more. I think P&P is my favorite. It looks like others are more technically difficult(?) in terms of writing, but P&P just seems to have the most charm.
DeleteGreat answers. Congrats on reaching 100 followers. You can check out my 100 followers giveaway at my blog ~ HERE
